The reconstruction of the Stendhal College 400 extensible 500 in Nantes forms part of the dynamic of a district which is undergoing great change, and focuses on sustainable development as a project priority and educational task. The HQE targets for this project are:- A harmonious relationship between the building and its immediate environment: the preservation of impressive trees, the north-south orientation of the courtyard rooms with horizontal protection from the sun on the south façade, and optimised waterproof surfaces.- Construction site with low environmental impact during construction and dismantling.- Energy management through the use of photovoltaic cells on the roof of the restaurant as well as in the hall skylights and air circulation providing filtration, thermal solar panels on the staff accommodation, in the foyer and on inclined roofs, creating ceiling voids, buffer zones between the outside and the building.- Recovery of rain water as well as use of sustainable natural materials.
