HQE industrial pilot operationEau de Paris chose its Aqueduc de l'Avre source water refining unit project as a pilot project for its environmental commitment as part of its ISO 14001 certification, using experimental industrial project certification. The architectural response to this unique site can be summarised as follows: - Maximum greening of the works to extend the planted roofs of the reservoirs; - An impression of technology articulated by a double skin of glass and concrete perforated with circular apertures, evoking a negative print of the membranes in the background; - An expression of the memory and of the genius of the site, symbolised by a weathered steel plaque (corten), as a sculpture drawing an outline of the geometry of the reservoir. The highlights of the certification of this project included: - The re-use of demolition products from the existing reservoirs on site in the construction concrete (5,900 tonnes of concrete); - Controlled energy management using a compact of the project, with improved insulation, skylights and low-emission glazing completed by the use of a water-water heat pump for heating and the frost-free state of the equipment (+10°C constant measured in the adjacent reservoirs). The heat emitted by the hydraulic and electrical equipment contributes to the cost-savings of the system; - The greening of the roof terraces makes a major contribution to the equilibrium of the project: on the one hand, to the energy management system, and on the other, to neighbouring perceptions, before whom the project blends into the greenery, thanks to its expansive green walls; - Rain water from the terraces and roofs is collected in a tank and reused for watering the green spaces. The system is completed by sampling upstream of the treatment for watering; - Use of recycled and recyclable products, with the requirement to provide a "lifespan file" for all of the materials used.
