AIA Selected Top 3 in the Solicitation of International Plans for Wuhan Union Chongqing Hospital

AIA Life Designers recently teamed up with China IPPR International Engineering Co. LTD. and CMCU Engineering Co., Ltd., and participated in the competitive solicitation of International Plans for the Conceptual Architectural Design of Chongqing Hospital of Union Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (referred to as "Wuhan Union Chongqing Hospital"). After the processes of registration, pre-qualification and expert review, the design proposal of the consortium was finally selected as one of the three winning proposals among the 5 finalists from a great amount of participants.

Chongqing Hospital of Union Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology will be built by Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Management Committee and Union Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, one of the top 10 hospitals in China, with the total investment of over 4 billion yuan and 3,000 beds equipped. The new hospital is aimed to be built into a smart and modern regional medical center at the international level. In the first phase, the hospital is going to be equipped with 1,500 beds and its total construction area is about 356,200 square meters.

The winning conceptual architectural design is based on the concept of "Three-dimensional Healing Green Valley". Through modular layout, the medical functions of the hospital are combined with the landscape of three-dimensional green valley, and the special conditions of the site are transformed into highlights of the program by taking advantage of the terrain feature of Chongqing mountain city.
